Benjamin Wortham

It's a laudable hope but I'm not sure it's possible. Current scholarship tells us that diversity was present at the earliest history of the followers of Jesus. In fact the Jerusalem church, called followers of the way, led by James, brother of Jesus, ceased to exist after the Jewish revolt that destroyed the second temple. Any claim to a church "apostolic" is questionable at best. I think the gospel has always revealed an expansive truth that is impossible to confine to a particular dogma or doctrine. It may be that the best path to truth is through multiple theological lenses, in as much that no one has more than a small portion of a larger truth, that cannot be contained in a single doctrine. Perhaps diversity is a strength, not a weakness.
